Angkor Wat – The Ancient Temple Ruins in Cambodia

Angkor Wat is the famous Buddist temple ruins present in Northern Cambodia. This famous temple complex was originally built by Suryavarman II in the 11th century as the Hindu temple complex. By the end of the 12th century, it turned into a Buddist temple complex. Although the temples are not active here, it has turned into the famous tourist site in Cambodia. When it was built, it was being considered as the capital city of Khmer empire in the 11th century. The word “Angkor” means the capital city in the Khmer language & “Wat” means the temple. The design of the temple is quite different from other temples. So many beautiful stone works have been done on these temples. It has a 15 feet wall surrounding its large complex where it has five towers which are intended to create the Mount Meru peaks.
